Study quechua language with native speakers in Cusco, Sacred Valley of the Incas

We offer two types of programs that may be designed in a combined way or prioritizing one of them in accordance to the needs and desires of the participant/s.

QUECHUA AND COSMOLOGY

This program is focused on the concept that the participant might get closer to the Quechua speaking people´s universe.

Panorama of the thematic content

  • Quechua: Reflection of a cosmo-vision – Conception of time, space, collectivity, reciprocity and the complementarity
  • Quechua is a language with many differentiations: Difficulties and distortions in translations.
  • Quechua and its original writing: From the Incan Qhapaq Quipus´ iconographic and syllabic system, to the icons in today´s textiles.
  • Quechua songs: Takiy – music and singing, in the different rites and celebrations.

COMMUNICATE WITH QUECHUA SPEAKING PEOPLE

Oral proficiency, combined with grammar and writing, is the focus of this program directed towards those who wish to communicate and achieve a certain level of immersion in the Quechua speaking circle.

Panorama of the thematic content

  • Useful expressions.
  • Grammar, phonetics and the application of Quechua.
  • Cultural aspects, customs and idiosyncrasy, in rural Andes.
  • Let´s speak Quechua: Exercises and communication workshops, “tandems” or language exchanges with indigenous students.
  • In the Apulaya team, we are all Quechua speaking. So, practice with us!

Available levels: Basic, intermediate and advanced.

These programs can be combined with visits to traditional communities, interviews and live experience workshops.

EXTENSION PROGRAM: QUECHUA, VOLUNTEER WORK AND CULTURAL IMMERSION

This is an excellent opportunity to learn Quechua from your home. The course´s program is tailor-made and includes sending didactic material. If you´re planning a stay in the Andes, this course could be a good prelude to your trip.
