It is the Andes´ emblematic instrument and is very simple to learn, as only blowing directly in the pipes already produces sound. Of pre-Columbian origin and widely spread on an international level, the standard contemporaneous zampoña is diatonic, tempered to the universal musical system (440Hz) and generally made with bamboo pipes.
Traditionally, its execution is performed in a collective way, in orchestral forms (sikuris, chiriguanos, ayarachis, etc), particularly in the regions of Puno (Lake Titicaca) and Bolivia. However, the soloist execution of this instrument is also widely used in today´s musical world.
